Tell Illinois No- Don't let Illinois Otters and Bobcats Suffer in Cruel Traps!

Your help is urgently needed to oppose legislation that would expand trapping in Illinois. HB 4632 attempts to expand the use of cruel and indiscriminate traps throughout the state. If passed, this bill would initiate a new trapping season on river otters and bobcats. We need your help to keep this from happening.
If HB 4632 bill is enacted into law, the expanded use of these cruel trapping devices will cause immense suffering.
Please take a few moments of your time to help defeat HB 4632 so it does not become state law.

Write a letter for polar bears:

Send a letter for polar bears to the White House!
It's time these precious creatures have the protection of the Endangered Species Act; but we all need to stand up, write letters, and fight together to ensure that happens.
It's been well over a year now since the Bush Administration announced that it would consider listing polar bears as protected under the Endangered Species Act; however, two deadlines were missed for decision-- yet they found plenty of time to auction off 30 million acres of oil and gas leases in vital polar bear habitat in Alaska!
Please write a letter to the Bush Administration urging to halt all sales of drilling leases in polar bear habitat and list these precious creatures under the Endangered Species Act immediately!

Put an end to animal abuse. What did they ever do to us to deserve such treatment??

CITES, the Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species of Wild Fauna and Flora, lists the Clouded Leopard as an Appendix I species. This means that the Clouded Leopard is among the most endangered of all species. CITES prohibits international trade of Appendix I species except for singularly important reasons such as scientific research. The United States also lists the Clouded Leopard under the Endangered Species Act, further prohibiting trade in the animals or any parts or products made from them. In the countries of its native range, hunting of the Clouded Leopard is prohibited, however these bans are poorly enforced.
They are threatened by a high demand for their attractive pelts, which have ceremonial meaning in Taiwan. Due to the reclusive nature of the clouded leopard, it is difficult to assess how many remain in the wild, but they are highly endangered in some areas, and only relatively stable in others. Deforestation, habitat destruction, and poaching are major concerns for the future of the clouded leopard.
Deforestation, resulting from commercial logging and the growth of human settlements, is thought to be the foremost threat to the clouded leopard. Not only does deforestation remove the clouded leopard's own habitat, but it reduces the number of prey animals.
Rampant habitat loss and fragmentation throughout the clouded leopard forest habitat in Southeast Asia and active poaching of clouded leopards are causing a decline in their already uncertain population. Clouded leopard pelts have increased dramatically in the illegal wildlife trade due to active poaching in Asia.
Hunting of this cat for its fur and teeth as well as its bones, which are prized in the traditional Asian medicinal trade, is another major threat. The clouded leopard has also been featured on the menu of restaurants in China and Thailand which cater to wealthy Asian tourists, and it is sometimes persecuted for killing livestock.
Please sign to ask that these beautiful cats have more protection than what they are getting now and to make the penalties of breaking these laws much harsher. The Clouded Leopards are NOT food, clothing, or medicine. They are magnificent cats that should be more protected!

Today's Video:

Today we live in a world full of hate and darkness. People refuse to open their eyes to the world around us. My dream is not just for world peace- but for a world of people with opened eyes and souls; because once we open our eyes, we can begin to change the world.
Gandhi once said, "Be the change in this world that you want to see."
William Shakespeare said, "Be not afraid of greatness. Some are born great, some achieve greatness, and some have greatness thrust upon them."
My life's mission is to be one of the small steps toward change.... to be one of the smiling faces toward peace... to make a global impact.
If you have a cause, fight for it. If you care, show it. Human kind should no longer sit back and "watch"... but get up and get something done.
Our animals are dying off... people are being senselessly killed in genocides... children are starving... healthcare is becoming impossible... our environment is growing unstable...
The world must be changed.
In order for that to happen, however, it's time people wake up.

The Amur Leopard, a very rare and critically endangered big cat, is on the verge of extinction!
With only a few left remaining in the wild due to logging, farming, building and poaching- this beautiful species is on a harsh road to extinction if there is not any action done immediately.
This is my second petition to try and push for more conservation efforts for these beautiful, majestic creatures. If I meet the signature goal, I could get these cats the media attention they need and deserve to have so that more people may be educated on their critical endangerment.
There are approxiamately only 30 remaining in the wild; only 5-6 of which are female. In captivity, the situation is also very serious, as interbreeding with animals of unknown heritage has affected a large percentage of the captive breeding pool. Because of this, of the 150 remaining in captivity, only 12 are purebreds.
There has been very little research done to protect the Amur Leopard and it has been virtually ignored.
There is still hope to save them. We can make similar steps that were made to save the Siberian Tiger; most importanly we need to make people aware of the situation the Amur Leopards are in and their extreme danger of extinction.
Please don't let these gorgeous creatures disappear! Something must be done!

I am determined to meet my goal this time. I'm not giving up on these beautiful cats and am requesting to please have you all sign this petition and spread the word.
I've been working very hard over the last year and am very passionate over these beautiful cats. Please sign my second Amur Leopard petition and help me reach the 10,000 signature goal!
Lots of Love,
Crystal

One million...
That's how many baby seals have been slaughtered senselessly in the past three years.
If you add the adult seals, the number is even greater than that.
Canada's annual seal hunt is the largest commercial hunt of marine mammals in the world. Harp seals are the primary target; but to a smaller extent, hooded seals are killed as well. In 2006, ninety-eight percent of the harp seals that were killed were pups under three months of age; and even some as young as three days old.
The methods used in this hunt is considered cruel and inhumane. Most of the 'sealers' use hakapiks (large ice-pick-like clubs) and wooden clubs. Some may use guns- but it's not very often because they get charged $2 for every bullet hole or bullet that is in the fur when they turn the fur into the main sealskin processing plant.
The seal slaughter consists of these innocent creatures being bludgeoned to death with clubs and ice-picks and/or being skinned alive while conscious.
Other unacceptable levels of cruelty include sealers dragging conscious seals across the ice with boat hooks and shooting seals, leaving them there to suffer in agony when the first shot doesn't kill them.
Seals are killed primarily for their fur for fashion garments and other items; and there is also a small market for seal oil- for industrial purposes and human consumption.
The hunt is from November 15-May 15; but the hunting mostly takes place in late March and throughout the month of April. Each hunting season, the quota is set. However, many times over, the quota is surpassed by thousands more and nothing is done about it.
For example, in 2002, the Canadian government knowingly allowed the sealers to exceed the quota by more than thirty-seven thousand seals. In 2004, the sealers once again exceeded the quota by killing sixteen thousand more than what was permitted. Both times, the Minister of Fisheries and Oceans extended the hunt through June. (according to www.hsus.org)
The Canadian Seal hunt is subsidized by both the Canadian government and the Norwegian government.
This cruel and senseless hunt saddens me. So, what can we do?? Well, you can visit www.protectseals.org and learn more. Sign the pledge to boycott all Canadian seafood and other products. Write letters to the Canadian government. Sign Petitions.
There's a lot you can do-
The real question should be: Do you care enough to do anything????

Hello and welcome to the Operation: World Wide blog. I have devoted a lot of time and efforts over many subject areas and have decided to finally get this underway. This is not a charity (although, I'd like to make it one someday), but this is my path to peace and light in the world.
Since this is the first post, you may click on the link to my personal blog to get to know me as a person. I really hope that you enjoy this blog and learn a lot from it. I accept and respect all opinions and beliefs, but will not tolerate "drama" and people who have no respect for the opinions and beliefs of this blog.
Without further ado, let's get this blog going.
I've decided that I would share a video for the first post. Global Warming. It's a serious matter not to be taken lightly. It is not a hoax!
I would also like to leave a little disclaimer about this blog: There may be strong language in some images I share, so I would recommend it be viewed BEFORE you let any children see.
Thank you for stopping by. I hope you continue to visit!
